Reducing Neck and Shoulder Discomfort
Holding habitual tension in the neck and shoulders is a fact of daily life and greatly impedes our ability to full activity. Participants in this workshop will learn specific movement sequences to recognize their habitual tendencies as well as shift inefficient movement patterns into easy, fluid movement. By focusing attention on differentiating and integrating the movements of the shoulder girdle with the neck and head, participants will experience greater ease, articulation and comfort.
This spring TheIntegratedBody is excited to be offering numerous workshops in partnership with studios in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Check them out and find one close to you.
The Body Tune-Up Workshops
TheIntegratedBody Workshops address issues essential to effortless moving, including expanding movement range and eliminating or reducing chronic discomfort. Through easy-to-learn movement sequences students release tension, improve body awareness and move more efficiently. Developed by Daniel Burkholder and based on the revolutionary Feldenkrais Method®, these classes are gentle, yet highly effective. Each workshop participant will receive a packet with further information regarding movement efficiency and the Feldenkrais Method. TheIntegratedBody Workshops are a unique opportunity for individuals who wish to reduce discomfort or pain and move with greater efficiency and ease.
Healthier Hip Joints
Our hip joints allow us to sit, walk, run and, certainly, dance. Without properly functioning hip joints all of these activities are more difficult and even uncomfortable. In dance the hips are especially important because of the greater stress on them due to extreme movements of many forms. In this workshop we will explore how to use the full range of articulation in your hips in ways that are healthy and appropriate. Learn movement sequences designed to allow students to access their full turn-out, learn to differentiate and integrate the hip joints and lower back, and how to release tension in the deep hips.
